John Witherspoon: Parson, Politician, Patriot

Ask an American who John Witherspoon was and his answer will likely be, “I dont know.” Ask a Scotsman, in whose land Witherspoon spend most of his life, with a name widely known in the eighteenth century, and the answer is apt to be the same. A few may remember that he was a Presbyterian ministerwho signed the Declaration of Independence and president of the College of New Jersey, which later became Princeton University. He deserves to be better known.
